The most common question before a first visit is what to bring. The list is short, but there are a few things people rarely think of.
The practical part
- Comfortable clothes you can move in. Something you can bend down in and raise your arms in.
- Indoor shoes. Trainers or socks, whichever is more comfortable.
- A small towel.
- Something to drink.
The same applies for massage, except that clothing matters less there: you stay covered during the treatment, and only the area we are working on is uncovered.
The paperwork
If you have previous test results, imaging, a surgical discharge summary or a recommendation from a doctor, bring them. They are not compulsory and their absence is not an obstacle, but they help us build a more accurate picture.
What is worth thinking through beforehand
Think about two questions, because these are what we start with at the first session:
How long has the complaint been there, and what changed around that time? A new job, a new sport, a house move, an injury, a longer break.
When is it worse and when is it better? Morning, evening, with movement, with sitting, under load. Those two often reveal more than any examination.
Timing
Arrive a few minutes early so the session does not start in a rush. Appointments can be cancelled online in our booking system free of charge up to twenty-four hours before the start time.
You do not need a referral. With acute pain, radiating symptoms or recent surgery, however, see a doctor first: an exercise programme does not replace a medical examination.
